Activated carbon is made of wood, sawdust, fruit core, coconut shell, coal or petroleum residue by carbonization at high temperature. The surface of activated carbon is granular, and the interior is porous. There are many capillaries with the size of about 10nm ~ La in the pores. The factors that affect the ability of activated carbon to remove organic matter include the area of activated carbon itself, the size of pores, the molecular weight and polarity of the removed organic matter. It mainly uses the physical adsorption capacity to remove impurities. When the adsorption capacity reaches saturation, excessive impurities will fall down and pollute the downstream water quality, Therefore, the impurities adsorbed on it must be removed regularly by means of back flushing.
The work of activated carbon filter is completed by carbon bed. The activated carbon particles that make up the carbon bed have many micropores and large specific surface area, which have strong physical adsorption capacity. When water passes through the carbon bed, organic pollutants in water are effectively adsorbed by activated carbon. In addition, there are some oxygen-containing tubular energy groups on the amorphous part of the activated carbon surface, so that the organic pollutants in the water passing through the carbon bed can be effectively adsorbed by the activated carbon. Backwashing of filter mainly refers to the filter after a certain period of use, its filter material surface is intercepted or the external surface of particles adsorbs a certain amount of debris or stains, so the performance of the filter is deteriorated, mainly characterized by: the normal filter water quality of the filter becomes poor, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet pipes increases, and at the same time, the flow of a single filter decreases.
Principle of backwashing: the water flows through the filter material layer in reverse, making the filter layer expand and suspend. Wash the filter material layer and discharge the dirt from the filter layer by the shear force of water flow and particle collision friction.
- Scale inhibitor adding system The scale inhibitor is used to soften, mainly to remove the hardness of water. Reverse osmosis membrane is the key equipment of reverse osmosis system. When the system runs continuously for a long time, calcium and magnesium ions in water will continuously precipitate and adhere on the surface of reverse osmosis membrane, forming scale and blocking membrane pores, resulting in the increase of water supply pressure and cleaning frequency, the decrease of water yield or desalination rate, and even the early scrapping of membrane components. In order to ensure the economic, safe and stable operation of reverse osmosis system, in addition to reliable process design, selection of high-quality membrane components and perfect operation management, adding appropriate scale inhibitor, dispersant and bactericide to prevent membrane pollution is a common technical treatment method at present. Its basic functions are as follows:
- Complexation and solubilization: after dissolving in water, reverse osmosis scale inhibitor ionizes to form a negatively charged molecular chain, which forms a water-soluble complex or chelate with Ca2 +, so as to increase the solubility of inorganic salt and play a scale inhibition role.
- Lattice distortion: some functional groups in reverse osmosis scale inhibitor molecules occupy a certain position on the inorganic salt crystal nucleus or microcrystalline, which hinders and destroys the normal growth of inorganic salt crystal, slows down the growth rate of crystal, thus reducing the formation of salt scale.
- Electrostatic repulsion: the reverse osmosis scale inhibitor is absorbed on the microcrystal of inorganic salt after being dissolved in water, which increases the repulsion between particles, hinders their coalescence, and makes them in a good dispersion state, so as to prevent or reduce the formation of scale.
Figuratively speaking, scale inhibitor is like washing powder used when washing clothes. Scale inhibitor can absorb or change the material properties on the membrane, so that the membrane is not easy to scale and block, but it will not pass through the membrane and damage the structure of the membrane, which has no impact on the water quality.
- Precision filter
Precision filter is also known as security filter. The main function is to prevent leakage in the previous process, and bring some particles to the next process to ensure the water inflow requirements of the next process and protect the normal and long-term operation of the next process. It is made of formed filter material to remove fine particles with particle size and is set after pressure filter to remove 5 μ The fine particles above M further reduce turbidity to meet the requirements of subsequent processes for water inflow. Through the security filter, the water is further purified, and the turbidity and chroma of water can be optimized. Ensure the water inflow requirements of RO system.

Permeability is a physical phenomenon. When two kinds of water with different concentrations of salt are separated by a semi permeable film, it will be found that the water on the side with less salt content will penetrate into the water with high salt content through the membrane, and the salt content does not penetrate. In this way, the salt concentration on both sides will be gradually melted and even. However, it takes a long time to complete the process, which is also called natural penetration. But if a pressure is added on the water side with high salt content, the result can also stop the above-mentioned infiltration, and the pressure is called the osmotic pressure. If the pressure increases again, it can allow water to penetrate in the opposite direction, while the salt is left. Therefore, the principle of reverse osmosis desalination is to apply pressure greater than natural osmosis pressure in water with salt (such as raw water), so that the permeation will be carried out in the opposite direction, and the water molecules in the raw water are pressed to the other side of the membrane to become clean water, so as to achieve the purpose of removing salt in water. This is the principle of reverse osmosis desalination.
- High pressure pump

Technical features of reverse osmosis (RO) unit:
The influent water quality of RO design is considered as the worst case.

The membrane element is energy-saving low-pressure membrane. It has the advantages of compact structure, high water yield, high desalination rate, low operating pressure and good bacterial erosion resistance.
The start-up, operation and flushing of the RO system are automatically controlled.
The design flux of RO membrane elements shall not be greater than the maximum flux value specified in “guidelines” of membrane element manufacturer, and reasonable arrangement and combination shall be selected to ensure normal operation and reasonable cleaning cycle of membrane elements.
Interlock protection shall be provided for the start and stop of high pressure pump and reverse osmosis system to protect membrane system from damage.
Automatic drain valve is installed on the water pipe of RO unit.
Each pressure vessel of RO unit is provided with sampling points. The number and location of sampling points can effectively diagnose and determine the operation status of the system.
The RO membrane module is installed on the combined frame, which is equipped with all pipes and joints, as well as all supports, fasteners, clamps and other accessories.
